Not sure what to say?

Dear Tom...You were always a breath of fresh air. Your kindness and empathy were a gift to me during hard times. I will never forget you.

Thank you for posting this report of an old friend's very full life. We spent a lot of time together at Metairie Park Country Day School, exploring the attics and playing pranks. He had a wonderful sense of humor. We even traded artworks, one of his pen and ink drawings for a ceramic face I had done. Then lost touch after high school, but I never forgot him. I have relayed the news to my alumnus group.

Tom Colbert, I will always remember your kindness and encouragement when I was a student at the University of Houston College of Architecture. I am sad at your passing, and I sympathize with your family, friends and colleagues.

You loved to teach, and you taught with love. Your lessons live on in all of us. Thank you, Tom

Professor Colbert was one of the coolest studio teachers I ever had. He always taught us all so much and pushed us to bring out our best. I will never forget all that I learned in his studio classes. Thanks for being a great teacher Mr.Colbert, I will never forget what I learned in architecture.

Tom :(
Amazing teacher and friend. You offered your shoulder and your time with kindness and patience. Rest in peace my dear friend.

An Architect in Venice

Tom was a pleasure to work with and I will forever remember a wonderful conversation we had at the Venice Biennale where he talked about his simple approach to his research that served as the foundation for what became an international sensation, Risky Habit[at]. He also had a killer sense of humor but I cannot repeat any of what we talked about here. At his core he was a passionate, incredibly talented, intelligent and courageous man. I feel lucky to have known him. What a life!

Marcella, your father was an accomplished and beloved man. My thoughts are with you, Steve, and everyone else in your family during this difficult time.

My heart and prayers go out to the family. What an extraordinary man. Lorena Nichols
