Mr. Thomas Edward Cook, 85, of Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at CHS Blue Ridge-Morganton, following a period of declining health. Thomas was born on April 19, 1930 in Chappells, SC to the late William Cook and Novice Lominick Cook. He was an U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from Broughton Hospital, where he worked as a warehouse manager for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Cyril, Bob, Jack and Bill Cook, and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include his three children, Carol Smith and husband Charles of Connelly Springs, Robin Whisnant and husband Todd of Valdese, and Tim Cook and wife Tammy of Morganton, one brother, Charles Wellington Cook and wife Miriam of Sumter, SC, and two sister in-laws, Betty and Edith Cook. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; Daniel Craig Smith, Bronwyn Coffey, Thomas Wesley Whisnant, Joshua Adam Cook, Timothy Cook, Jr., Travis Cook, Todd Cook, Angelica Carr, Prella Carr, and Kamilia Carr, and twelve great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Dr. Burt Wilbur and Pastor Buddy Sizemore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be sent to the Burke United Christian Ministries, 305 w. Union #B, Morganton, NC 28655. I am so very sorry to hear that (Great) Uncle Tom has passed.It was always good to see everyone but never often enough. We will be keeping yall in our thoughts and hearts . take care and Love yall

So sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I worked with him for several years at the Warehouse at Broughton. Tom was a very kind man and I enjoyed working with him. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time.
