Tom was born in Flint, Michigan on February 19, 1954, the son of Lloyd (Bert) and Rita Cummings. Once he hit his teenage years, he discovered racing and went on to have a successful professional racing career in flat track for over a decade. He continued in the racing scene by creating the TCR Grand National Team many years later. Tom was the chief builder and mechanic, leading his team on to 37 Grand National wins. It was the most wins for a privateer AMA flat track team. Meanwhile, Tom and his family successfully owned Cummings’s Harley-Davidson, a fixture in the Flint Community for more than 60 years. When not at work, he spent most of his time with his wife, Mary and son. His main passion was sponsoring and building race bikes and traveling for Nick’s Racing Career, while making sure to pass on the racing tradition. Tom also loved being a grandpa and tinkering in his garage. He was a very giving and caring person who would give the shirt off of his back, but TC did it his way!

Surviving are wife, Mary;

son, Nicholas (Aubrey);

sister, Kathleen (Tom) Altizer;

grandchildren, Calli and Hadley; Bailey and Mason.

Tom also leaves behind many close friends, including John and Vicki Zwerican.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Rita Cummings, brother, Bert Jr. and several close friends, including Will Davis and Nicky Hayden.

Tom, My Cousin, When I think Tom, I think of one of the most Kind, Generous and Sincere individuals I have ever known. When I was about 16 (1974) my family took a trip back to MI to visit Family, Tom knew I had a dirt bike and asked about it was before our trip. When we got to MI Tom surprised me by having that exact bike there for me to ride during our visit. Are you kidding me? Who does that? Tom Does that!! I rode it every day of our trip. When he had TCR and had races on the west coast,...

I remember Tom (Tommy) when we were just little kids. He wanted so much to run with the older siblings and cousins, yelling "Wait for me!". My family then moved to SD. A few years later he came and lived with grandma for a while and we reconnected, especially my brother Bill. They were best of friends. I remember Tom as being a kind, generous man who would do anything for you. His passion for bikes and racing was only surpassed by his love for his family. The Jarosins send you our deepest...
