Not sure what to say?

Many years ago, I was a young therapist working at Northwestern Hospital and began a journey with a young man and his family that would set the bar for all the future folks who sustained a spinal cord injury and also got me for a therapist. The good part of this situation was that when they stumbled, I could call on my old buddy Tom to come in and give them a good boost of hope that everything would be OK. He didn't just talk, he set the example.
His journey wasn't easy and his success...

I also had the good fortune of knowing Tom for decades being a first cousin of his incredible wife Noel. As others have remarked, Tom never lost his smile, positive attitude and wry sense of humor (which was a good foil to Noel's) in spite of the tremendous adversities that beset him. Tom never let his disabilities define his life or personality which is an accomplishment most of us could never achieve.

Dear Noel and all the Cusack Family. We were saddened to hear of Toms passing. Reading the obit in the Tribune, we were touched with his charitable work and lovely attitude that exhibited in his life and work. God Bless you all in your time of sorrow.

May the light you shared with others light your path now

Sorry for your loss

I got to know Tom at the First Division Museum where he was a volunteer. A man that always had a smile on his face and there for you. A person that was an inspiration to others around him. The best thing you can say about a man is that he was a "Good man" and Tom was all of that. A class act.

Condolences to his family. George Tenne Volunteer at FDM.

It was my honor and pleasure to know Tom over this past year. Always surrounded by family and friends visiting, it was clear to see Tom was a likable guy. In knowing him a short time, he is already missed. My heart goes out to Noel and others who have enjoyed his warmth and charm much longer. God's Peace is truly with you now Tom.

I remember your family so well from CK years, and I'm sorry to learn of the ending of Tom's exceptional life. All of can offer you is a remembrance in my prayers tonight as you begin to try to adjust to a world without Tom's rich presence now. May he know God's peace.

GodSpeed and RIP Tom
