DEEGAN, Thomas R. - Of Flint, age 66, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at his residence. Per Tom's wishes the memorial service and burial will be at Port Austin Township Cemetery at a later date. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County. Mr. Deegan was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on February 6, 1937, the son of Thomas G. and Estelle Deegan. He married Julie White on August 24, 1963 in Grand Blanc. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska. Mr. Deegan taught, as well as coached basketball, his first two years in Paradise, Michigan, before teaching at Atherton School District for 27 years, retiring in 1994. Surviving are wife, Julie; 2 sisters, Donna and husband Douglas Fales of Burton and Marie True of Port Huron; nephews and niece, James and wife Janet True of Brown City, Michael and wife Judy Fales of Olivet, Michigan, Lester True of Port Huron and Michelle Graham of Charlotte, North Carolina; 5 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, William True.

I AM SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT TOM, HE CARED ABOUT PEOPLE, I REMEMBER TOM AT WORK, TAKING HIS LUNCH AT MY OFFICE AREA, AND TALKING ABOUT HIS LIFE AND HIS STUDENTS HE ENJOYED. WE HAD GOOD VISITS. TOM LOVED KIDS.
