DeGroot, Thomas J., fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the age of 92. Thomas has fulfilled his time on earth and is now returning to God, his Savior.

Loving husband of Joan DeGroot (née Lanini) for 72 years; loving father of Deborah (Mike) Tricamo, Donna (Stephen) Monticelli, Susan (Craig) Kjellberg and the late Thomas James DeGroot; loving son of the late Jacob and Marie DeGroot (née Madigan); Thomas was the grandfather of ten and the great-grandfather of eleven.

Thomas worked at McDonnell Douglas for 41 years. He was the Director of Procurement for the F-15. Upon retirement, he opened his own consulting business focused on aerospace. Tom loved collecting many beautiful stamps, metal detecting, reading history and traveling the world with his wife, Joan. His priority was his family. His love for God was such an important part of his life. All the wonderful memories he gave his family will sustain us. We thank you, God, for his life!

Not sure what to say?

Joan,
I am sorry to hear of Toms passing. It was always a comfort to see you and Tom when I visited my Mom, Eleanor Monolo, at FV. Please know that you, Tom, and your entire family are in my prayers. I am blessed to have met both of you,
Theresa OBrien

You and your family are in our prayers. Debbie, even though your dad lived to an old age we know that a parent’s passing creates pain and a void in one’s life. We pray for comfort, healing and even joy in knowing your dad is home and at peace.
God bless,
Frank and Vera

Dear Joan and Family, I looked forward to seeing Tom whenever I would visit my dad, Bob at FVC. Dad was fortunate to share Madison Avenue and the same dining table during the time Tom was there. Tom was such a kind and calming presence and our family is grateful our paths crossed with both you and Tom. May your memories of Tom bring you comfort and joy. So happy he is at eternal peace with our Heavenly Father.

Tom DeGroot’s passing saddens all who knew him. In myriad ways he was a good and gracious man who forged a wonderful life with his loving wife Joan. Together they raised a beautiful family.

Even a human heart that is broken is a strong and spacious muscle. It has the capacity to hold many precious memories that will soothe the sadness of a great loss. Everyone who knew Tom will certainly draw upon those memories in the years to come. - Larry

Gosh!!! I worked with tom at McDonnell/Boeing for a number of years in purchasing department Such a nice quiet person. So sorry for your loss.

Joan, nothing but love and kindness exuded from your family every time you all visited. Tom was special to so many here at FVC, and our sadness can only be minimized by our joy of knowing Tom and the DeGroot family. You both are role models as Christians, Parents, Spouses and Friends! I am so glad to have had the opportunity to have your family bless my life's path. Please know we are and always will be here for you! Mike

Tom - we will miss you soo much - REST WELL MY FRIEND TILL WE MEET AGAIN - (IT NO EVEN WITHOUT YOU)
