Thomas Derwin Obituary - Death Notice and Service Information

Thomas Arthur Derwin, age 58, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. A memorial service will be held 2pm Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family. Visitation 12pm Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Tom was born in Flint on February 21, 1954, and lived in Flint all of his life. Surviving are sons, Thomas M. (Vanessa) and David; devoted daughter, Melinda; grandchildren, Rowan and Laine; former wife and friend, Darla; brothers and sisters, Deanna Hughes, Douglas (Verna), Martha LaBranche, and William (Mary Elizabeth); special friend LuAnn and loving dog Mindy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorain and Marguerite (Ostrander) Derwin. Sincere thank you to the staff of Hurley CCU and ICU. Your

I will always remember the wonderful family that lived on the corner of Leland Street. Tom being the youngest and closest in age to me; was a good friend in his early years. I remember my cousin Tom very well, we worked together at MacDonals Dairy. Tommy, Bob and I shared a lot of good times together growing up. We would get together when our parents played cards. Tommy is in a better place now.
