Not sure what to say?

It is December 17, 2020 and I have been going through my old files and came across a personal letter from Dr. DiLorenzo congratulating me on "delaying immediate gratification" to excel in my studies and in his psychology class at The University of Missouri. Today I sat down to write to him and came across this tragic news. I wanted to personally thank him for teaching me the singular most important lesson in my life. When Covid hit I knew what to do, I needed to delay the usual fun...

I am very sorry to hear about Tom's passing. He was a really good person that always left me with a good feeling . Each time I interacted with him at UAB, I thought to myself, "What a nice guy!" Like all those who knew Tom, I will always have good thoughts when I think of him. He will be missed.

Suzanne,

Like everyone else who knows you and Tom, I was so saddened to learn of this terrible news. Please know that many, many people are praying for you during this most difficult of times.

Suzanne,

You are close to my thoughts during this time of mourning. I am very sorry for your loss and the pain you are feeling. I hope you and your family are able to find comfort and peace during this time.

With sympathy,
Nicky

Dear Suzanne: My heart goes out to you and the entire family! One can only imagine the weight of the loss, but I know that God will give you all the strength you need to keep on marching. Your courage will make Tom smile down from heaven.

Dear Suzanne: My heart goes out to you and all other family members, friends, and colleagues! One can only imagine how painful this loss is to you, but I know you for the total goodness that God put in you! He will continue to give you the strength and courage to manage everything!!!

He did a lot of good work in his life. He will be missed.

Dear Suzanne,
I was profoundly shocked upon learning such a tragic loss of your partner Dr. Tom Di Lorenzo, only weeks after you and Dr. Di Lorenzo moved to Charleston, and I am struggling to express my unspeakable sadness for you.
Please accept my deepest condolences to you and both your and Dr. Di Lorenzo's families.

Susanne,

I can never find the right words at times like this, but please know you are in our thoughts and in our hearts. Tom earned my respect and admiration when he went to UAB. May you find comfort in knowing he was so loved and admired.
