Tom visited me at BYU about 15 years ago and provided all of his video lectures, as I was teaching a welding and joining processes class for manufacturing engineers, and he wanted to help. He was friendly and supportive of what we were doing. I saw him again in 2009, working with him all day at a panel at NSF.
