What a wonderful man! Husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. A kind, caring, giving, decent man who loved his family deeply and gave so much of himself. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey in 1924, Tom graduated from Pace University in New York City, majoring in Business Administration....

Not sure what to say?

Dear Shirley and family,
My prayers are with all of you as you experience such a great loss of Tom, a well respected and wonderful man. I am grateful to have known such a thoughtful, generous and caring person. Tom was always warm and friendly. He would ask about you and really want to know how you were doing. He went out of his way to make you feel comfortable. He will be truly missed. May the God of all comfort bring you peace. Love, Sue Emerick

Dear Miss Shirley,
Mr. Tom meant so much to me. I remember that every time that we came to the beach, he would come over and say hello. He always had a big smile on his face and a warm hug waiting for me. I have kept all of the quarters that he gave me and shall treasure them forever. He was also our greatest customer and supporter for our lemonade stand. I will miss him a lot. Love, Rachel Emerick

Dear Shirley and family,
You have my deepest sympathy over your loss. I was a lucky girl to spend time on 14th street growing up. Both you and Tom were generous with your time and a listening ear for all the "teens" (and into our adult years.)Thanks for the wonderful memories!Tom will be missed! Love, Barb

Shirley,

It is with deepest sympathy I sign this guest book. I have been thinking about you and wish you and your family only the best

Dear Shirley, Joanne, Gail and all of your family,

Here it is early Saturday morning and I'm thinking of you and your family - and my own father. My parents, your lifelong friends, were fortunate to share many happy and fun times together. A particular memory will link Tom to Saturday mornings, as I think of my father's ritual, sitting at the kitchen table writing out his bills - in his beautiful handwriting - always with his favorite pen in hand. Of course it was the...

You were not really at the beach until Tom's warm welcoming smile was seen from across the street. He is one man that I have always admired for his giving heart and his integrity in all areas of life. He left an indelible imprint on my life as a kid growing up on 14th street. Thanks for the millions of memories that always bring a smile to me and my family.Tom's death is our loss but heavens gain.

Dear Shirley, Joanne, and Gail,

Tom was a very special person to all of the Hondo family. I can vividly remember Joe driving by your house in Union each Sunday after mass just on the chance that Tom would be outside so he could say hello. Joe Hondo loved Tom, as we all did.

Tom always made all of us feel important and we looked foward to seeing him. I do wish that I had spent more time with him when I was an adult. I think we could have had some great...

Dear Shirley and family,

Shirley, I have only recently met you and of course I knew Tom for years as he was my mother's boss for so many. It was such a pleasure to spend those minutes with you and Tom when we stopped by LBI that one afternoon. I am so grateful that we had that time.

Tom was a kind and as I remember an extremely generous man who seemed to take delight in making someone's day better than it had been.

My deepest sympathy to his family. I...

Dear Shirley, Gail, Joanne, Brian, Steve and the grandkids,

Tad and I send our deepest sympathies to all of you. Tom was the joyful center of your family and we know you will miss him terribly. We enjoyed hearing many loving comments and funny stories about him over the years, as well as seeing him when we were in Manhattan Beach. How lucky you were to have him so very present in your lives for such a long time. And what a fortunate man he was to be loved by your wonderful...
