We wish we could be there with you.

We are terribly sorry for your loss. Though we only met you and Tom twice, Barney and Tracy often spoke about you and we felt we were all a part of the same big family. We were looking forward to your visit here next week (I was going to cook more meatballs), and we are saddened that we will not see Tom again in our earthly life.
