THOMAS WAYNE GIBE

Born: September 20, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois.
Died: January 02, 2013, in Naperville, Illinois.

Thomas Wayne Gibe, 82, formerly of Cable, Wisconsin, and West Chicago,
Illinois, died on Wednesday, January 2 in Naperville, Illinois.

Tom graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1948 with two state swimming
records: the 1947 100-meter freestyle, and the 1948 50-meter freestyle.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He operated the family
mink ranch in Phillips, Wisconsin for several years until moving to Chicago to attend
the University of Illinois. He managed the J.D. Schaffer Cartage Company for
over 40 years.

He served as a volunteer with the Kane County Sheriffs Auxiliary and
ranked as an Expert Sharpshooter with the Illinois Pistol Association. He was a
lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Tom reveled in being able to fix anything. He loved nature. His sense of
humor and adventure will always be remembered.

Tom is survived by three daughters: Cynthia Bauman (Peter), Annette
Forslund (Bob), Jennifer Long (Stephen) and six grandchildren: Alex (Carrie),
Allison, Rob, Meg, Tanner, and Taylin. He was preceded in death by his parents,
four brothers, and his infant son, Timothy Kirk.

A 3 p.m. prayer vigil with visitation between 4-6 p.m. will be held at The
Healy Chapel, 332 West Downer Place, Aurora, IL on Monday, January 7.
