Thomas Arthur HamilApril 6, 1928 - July 26, 2022"I am a man who paints. Colors are the notes with which I play my music-honky-tonk, jazz, blues, salsa, classical-expressing the rituals, fiestas, carnivals, in this, the circus of my life. I do not paint what I see; merely, I paint who I am".Thomas...

Not sure what to say?

Dear Hamil family, I am one of Naomi Reddert's nephews. As you may know, she passed away a year before Tom. I remember meeting him many years ago, and my brothers and I continue to enjoy his presence through the considerable amount artwork my aunt collected of his, from sketches to finished pieces, drawings, paintings, sculpture, and of course King Big Ears, etc. What an incredible talent and gift to the world! Hello Reilly! Tom certainly lived a long and productive life. We will never forget him (and you) as part of those enchanting days together in the Departamentos Vicki. We send a big hug to you and best wishes to all Tom's family in adjusting to life without him. Love, Jane and Jed

This morning I again thought of Tom Hamil, Balboa "Buccaneer' of class of Spring 1946. I forgot that along with his many activities at school, he also was one of the Balboa Football Managers, also called 'water boys', or "Gunga Dins'. I read that he liked a couple of cups of coffee...so, this morning, at breakfast, I toasted Tom Hamil, as I drank two cups of coffee..."Cheers, dear friend'. After graduation from beautiful Balboa High, the school we both loved, we never met again as we took...

I remember Tom Hamil from Balboa High School, San Francisco. I graduated in Fall of 1946, and Tom graduated Spring of 1946. He was class president. Some time in 1945 Tom and I went out to Stanyan Street and rented bicycles, and had fun bicycling all over the park. At that time of life, one could leave your bike any where, without worrying that some one would take it. So, we visited the DeYoung Museum and other places of note -- Just two kids from Balboa High. We did not have a...

Mr. Hamil taught me at Sunset School in Carmel for 5 th grade. He was a truly remarkable teacher and I have many fond memories of my year with him. The most poignant one occurred the day President Kennedy was shot. We all knew this had happened but we didn´t know he had died until we heard the bells of the Carmel Mission begin to roll. Mr Hamil rested his head on his arms as he sat at his desk and cried softly. I´ve never forgotten that. I add my condolences and wish the family strength...

I am so saddened and shocked to hear of Tom's passing, although, he did live a long and adventurist life. I remember being impressed by his calmness in almost any situation and always such a lover and full liver of life! His art was magical, so many colors and festivity in his abstract works, always I could ponder his Art , appreciating his cleverness and humor. He lived in the moment and traveled a lot which I also admired. He will be missed by many!!! RIP Tom Hamil.! xo Cathleen Hargens.
