Tom was a class act,a wonderful character and a true Tar Heel. I loved him like a father...the void his passing leaves can not be filled....Rest In Peace.

So very sorry to have just heard about Tom's passing. I worked with Tom for twenty years via The Tribune, Elkin, NC. We had some good times and shared so many of the same thoughts about life. I can truly say that Tom was a cherished and worthy friend. Rest in peace old buddy, see you again one day soon. My condolences to the entire family.

Sherry, I tried to go to Tom's funeral at 12:30 but the parking was such I couldn't stay. The lot was full and I drove around twice but wasn't lucky enough to get a space. I am so sorry. My thoughts are with you. Love, Patrice

Sherry, This has to be the strangest thing. I have had you on my mind a lot lately and decided I would try to find you on facebook....Had no luck, so I looked for Tommy and somehow came up with this obituairy from the 13th. Today is the 17th of July. We were friends at Limestone and you were in my wedding which will be 50 years ago on the 16th of August. I am so sorry to learn of this tragedy in your life. My heart is saddened to hear of Tom's passing. We go through life meeting people and along the way you meet a few that forever will stay in your heart and thoughts. Tom was one of these and I am forever thankful to have meet this special man. Always a kind word and a laugh that would keep you smiling for days. From all of your friends here at the Shopper till we are able to sit and laugh again, farewell or as Robert would say "I'll talk to soon oh boy".To the family our hearts and prayers go...
