Thomas "Tom" Bond Haseltine, 83, of Crestline, rode his final stretch of highway peacefully at home on Saturday, October 25, 2025. A motorcycle enthusiast, powersports industry legend, avid golfer, and loving father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Tom lived life like he rode - wide open, full throttle, and never afraid to take the scenic route.
Tom was born in Maine on January 11, 1942. It wasn't long after that, he hit the road and headed out west. Tom spent his early years in Napa Valley, California, where he managed to raise a little dust and more than a few eyebrows. Long before motorcycles were considered "cool," he owned and operated Cycle Riders Supply, a shop that quickly became a hub for misfits, mechanics, and dreamers alike. His lifelong love of two wheels and racing dirt bikes eventually led him down a career path most only dream of - selling, repping, and building up many of the most well-known brands in the industry. If it weren't for Tom, many of those brands might not be where they are today.
In the Midwest motorcycle world, Tom wasn't just another guy in the scene; he was the scene. Known for his quick wit, contagious laugh, and uncanny ability to sell you a product you didn't think you needed or wanted, while sitting back smiling at all the money you were making.
When he wasn't on two wheels, Tom traded handlebars for golf clubs. He had a wanderlust for travel; though true to form, he rarely stuck to the route. He proudly made it to all 50 states (a few more than once, thanks to wrong turns), told legendary stories that got better with every retelling, and firmly believed that just about any of life's problems could be solved with a ride on his Harley and a cold beverage. His humor, warmth, and larger-than-life presence will be missed by all who were lucky enough to share the road with him.
Tom leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Lorrie Leveque Haseltine; his children Rick (Michelle) Leveque, Renee (Greg) Rein, and Ryan (Stephanie) Haseltine; his grandchildren Terrah and Katelyn (Braeden) Leveque, Britney (Joe) Hershberger, Ryland (Tori), Sephira, Alcyone, Beyla, and Thorin Haseltine; his great-grandchildren Nolan and Noah Hershberger and Tulia Leveque. He is also survived by his brother, Roger (Theresa) Haseltine, and a lifelong band of friends and fellow riders who will miss his laugh, his stories, and his tendency to "stop by" for a five-minute visit that lasted three hours. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Gladys Haseltine, his brother John (Jack) Haseltine, and his sister Sally Ghera.
There will be no public services. Tom didn't ask for much in the end. His final request was just like the man himself, simple, sincere, and a little bit funny. Just a Cup-O-Soup, a cold drink, and for everyone to fire up their bikes and take a ride for him.
Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario is honored to serve the family.
