Not sure what to say?

A little late, but THANK YOU for helping my son!!!! You treated us like family and we won´t forget you!!

I lived about a block from Tom in Morrell Park and attended grade school, junior high and high school with him. He is the epitome of local boy does good. I always liked Tom although we were not close friends. Simply put, he was a studious guy with his eye on the prize as it were. I was not. I remember that he intended to go to Poly for high school and ended up at Edmondson. I think because he didn't do well on the math part of the entrance test. Poor math skills may be the only thing we had...

I am saddened to hear of Tom´s passing. I was hired as a law clerk during Tom´s first term and sat at the trial table for his first jury trial in an arson case which resulted in a guilty verdict. He was a good person who cared deeply about fairly enforcing the law. He will be missed.

Heartfelt condolences to his family and extended military friends as well as his huge circle of friends. I met Tom in late 70's. When I sought legal advice or his opinion, he always made time for me. Truly one amazing man with an incredible background. A pleasure having him as a longtime friend. I was very surprised to hear of his passing.

I first met Tom in our first year at University of Baltimore Law School. From that moment forward, I knew that we would become friends. Our class at U of B was unique, in that we were the first Day Law Class to graduate with full national accreditation, receiving JD degrees. Post graduation a core of student graduates would get together for dinners and reminisce about our shared experience. It grew to include favorite professors as well. Tom looked forward to these dinners and found great joy...

Tom was a masterful storyteller which served him well as a trial lawyer. When he argued to a jury he held their undivided attention. His voice alone made those stories enjoyable and held you captive. Tom gave me a start by hiring me as an assistant and we were sworn in together on his birthday 49 years ago. I had hoped we could have celebrated 50 years next January. Tom´s passion to serve the people of Carroll County and our country was real and emblematic of a man of great character. So...

It is with great admiration and appreciation just learned that my long time mentor/friend and colleague Thomas E. Hickman. Attorney at Law. has passed away. I will miss sitting across from Tom and the conversations we had. One item that Tom had wanted to do was to set up a veterans court in Carroll County. Tom had affection for all animals. I remember Tom proudly showing me a ceramic that Tom had placed for a toad he would see each morning and the raccoon cub that fell from his...

Tom you were my first experience with a States Attorney´s Office as a new Trooper. You were always kind and professional with me and the other LEOs in Carroll County. You will be missed. May God Bless you and your family. Rest in Peace. Scott McCauley Retired MSP

I am so sorry to see Tom has passed. Too young to leave us. I loved testifying in criminal cases with Tom as State's Attorney. He would put me on the stand and let me ramble on unabated. I always tried to sneak in testimony that I knew would get objection from the defense. Tom loved it. Cases with Tom as SA were almost automatic convictions. Great man and extremely professional as SA. Best to the family. Buck Warfield, MD State Police Retired
