Tom Holmes was an extraordinary ordinary man. I had the privilege of being a friend at a time when Tom received the inspiration that came to be know as the Almega House of Albany. Tom was a leader in the struggles at the State Department of Civil Service during the time when the Department was trying to change the pattern of racial discrimination in its examination program.
