Not sure what to say?

Like many of his other former students I was inspired to learn from his intellect and enthusiasm. He carried his teaching outside the classroom through memorable field trips that created a love for both the science and application. I am grateful to have had him as both a teacher and later friend and he will be missed.

God Bless you Tom. You have touched many lives over the years...including mine. You were a good friend and wonderful mentor. You will be missed. Thanks for all you did for the students of Lake County. To this day, no one leads a hike in Stebbin's Gulch like you did!

I was a 9th grade Earth Science student at Mentor High 1962-63 and absolutely loved the course. Later, he took several of us 11th graders to southern Ohio for fossil hunting there. Mr. Houston insprired an interest in Paleontology that continued to the present. He was the epitome of a great teacher and I will never forget him.

When we came to know Tom Houston through his daughter Leta, it was clear he had an adventurous spirit and was continuously learning (and teaching). He also had immense vigor to the point where he seemed to lift and carry his catamaran with one arm in order to sail Lake Erie's rough waters. Truly a family man and a joy to know.

I had him as an earth science teacher 40 years ago. Remember feeling happy and peaceful in his class. Recently got a Jeopardy question right about rocks due to what I learned from him. LOL! My condolences to his family. He was a good man and a terrific teacher.

Mr Houston was an excellent teacher, one of my favorites

I only remember a few teachers from my early education, and Mr. Houston is one that stands out. He was friendly, smart, and interesting. He made me want to learn, and I looked forward to science class with him. Rest in peace, Mr. Houston.

In loving memory of a wonderful person and educator. His lectures made learning a pleasure. Still have the trilobites we dug on the science club trip in the late 1960s. His class influenced my career choice in the sciences. My condolences to the family.

Mr. Huston (TBH as he was known) was my teacher in the late 60's - he was honest about life in many ways and I always looked forward to his class.
