Thomas E. Keohan

Thomas E. Keohan, Branson West, MO, son of Leo and Helen (Norwood) Keohan, was born July 11, 1931 in Somerville, MA and departed this life on July 20, 2016 at the age of 85.

After high school Tom spent four years in the United States Air Force. He then attended college and graduated in 1960. He eventually earned two masters degrees.

After working several years in business management, Tom moved his family to Kimberling Village (population less than 500) in MO to manage the Kimberling Supermarket, a family owned business, and the first large food store in the area. In 1972 he and his wife, with a few other couples, started working to change the status of Kimberling from a village to a city. That petition was successful when the population voted it in at the following election.

In 1980 Tom taught business classes at Reeds Spring High School. In 1984 he took a position with the University of Missouri Extension as a business consultant. He retired in 2007.

Tom was the first Exaulted Ruler of the Kimberling Elks Club. He was involved with forming the Kimberling Chamber of Commerce, was an honored Rotarian, served on the Kimberling Ways and Means Committee, a Score volunteer and served on the Advisory Committee for the Kimberling Chamber of Commerce.

His loss is felt deeply by his family and his remembrance will always be held close to their hearts.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: his wife, Geraldean (Gerry) Keohan, of Bosie, ID; four sons, Thomas Keohan (Debbie) of Parker, CO; Craig Keohan of Phoenix, Az; Eugene Keohan (Karen) of Kansas City, MO; Paul Keohan of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Gerilynn Brown (Douglas) of Niagara, MO; one sister, Ruth Ann Powell (Gerald) of Albany, OR; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Stumpff Funeral Chapel Kimberling City, MO. Service will be Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cove Catholic Church Kimberling City, MO with Father Suresh Samala officiating.

Not sure what to say?

Dearest Gerry and Keohan family,

Walter and I are holding you all in our hearts and prayers, as our thoughts travel across the miles from the southwest part of our country , where we have been for some time now, to y'all there in Kimberling . Our Glenn informed us he had read in the Springfield News Leader of your dear Tom's passing. How our hearts were saddened to learn this news, and yet our faith encourages us to know that Tom is now and forever experiencing the eternal tender...

May the Love from our Father in Heaven be felt in the heart of all those that are here, to continue carry Tom's legacy. Peace to him and his dear ones.

Sincerely,
Gerardo R. Martinez/Alianzas UMKC/MU Extension

In 1990, I had the privilege of working with Branson-Lakes Area leaders in economic development to create a Transportation Master Plan. Tom Keohan was invaluable for his input to the plan, especially bringing knowledge of the Kimberling City/Branson West transportation issues needed to make the plan truly responsive to area planning. I spent many hours touring the area with Tom providing his knowledge of the needs as well as his leadership while working on the Transportation Committee of...

My sincere condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one. May prayers strengthen you and memories comfort you. May our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father, who loves us, comfort your hearts and make you firm. (2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17).

I am blessed to have known Tom through work and Rotary during my years in Branson. He was a very kind man, teaching me patience in working through challenges we incurred on mutual projects. It is my hope your memories will carry you through this time of grief and sadness.
