Not sure what to say?

Tom was my first supervising resident at U of M where I did my residency in Internal Medicine. We remained friends. I enjoyed his humor, gentleness and patience with learners. Rem Sprague, MD, AOA

I have fond memories of learning from Dr Knauss as a medicine resident - he left a legacy of clinical teaching and mentoring.

I have fond memories of working with Tom - teaching physical diagnosis together and discussing challenging cases. He was thoughtful, humble, committed, very bright and knowledgeable and so helpful in taking care of our patients. It was really good working with him.

I don't recall ever speaking with Tom for more than a minute (Tom was a man of few words). Though our fields in Medicine didn't cross, we served in the VA together for more than 18 years. I recall him, always in his white coat, with his great work ethics and dedication to Medicine! Tom will be missed!

Dr. Knauss treated all with compassion, empathy and expertise. He was not above doing any task needed for patient care. He would even transport patients so their wait and care were quicker. His quiet demeanor belied his strength of moral and ethical convictions. He was not afraid to stand up for what he thought was right. I´ve often wondered about him in the past years. He worked so hard. I hope he did get to relax and enjoy his friends and family. Sleep with the angels Dr. Knauss.
