Since I moved to western PA I regrettably lost track of Tommie. He made me and countless others believe in ourselves like no one could. He was an extraordinary teacher, man, and human being.

He had a great sense of humor. Last time I saw him for a lesson his hands were shaking from the Parkinsons. He held them up as if he were holding a glass between them. He said he was going to take up a new profession -- bartender!

I just received word this morning of Tommy's passing. Stunned and saddened, I hardly have the words to express my feelings. Though I haven't seen him or been in touch in many years, Tommy was a profound influence in my life. What I miss most about him and will forever cherish, was his unique intellect, great sense of humor, abundant kindness and generosity. We shared tears, laughs and many meals--almost always paid for by Tommy--that's the way he was.

Tommy... I will always love...
