Read MoreTo the family of Mr. Madden, I just found out about his passing and you have my deepest and most heartfelt condolences. I was a student of his back in 1981 and while I wasn't a great student, I did love having him as a teacher. His quick wit made an otherwise boring class, fun ! I went back to North Miami a few times after graduating and he was always a teacher I enjoyed seeing.

As a former student at North Miami High School Class of '83, I had the honor of having Dr Madden as my English instructor and club sponsor. We had a very talented class (mostly made up of the band students) and he knew it. We always joked with Dr Madden and he appreciated our wit. I will always remember our teachings of 1984 by Orwell especially these days. This is truly a sad day.
