I am so saddened to hear the news of Tom Mattingly's passing. I have such fond memories of visiting Tom & Barbara in Charlotte with my husband (Tom's grad student) and my son. So many delightful conversations over the years on travel and life - frequently laced with humor. All the stories so very interesting. My thoughts are with you Barbara.

I was sad to learn of Dr. Mattingly's passing. I always appreciated his warmth and pleasantness whenever I saw him on visits to my Dad in the Chemistry Department at UNCC, and I so appreciated being able to spend time with him when you both came to Mom and Dad's last anniversary celebration the summer before Dad's death in Jan. 2010. It is so difficult to lose those we love, and I pray all of you who loved your Tom so will find true comfort and deep peace as time allows you to reflect on...
