Burkhart Funeral Home - Crawfordsville Obituary

Thomas Lee May of Crawfordsville passed away Sunday night in his home.  He was 57.


Tom was an agricultural mechanic, working several places, including Bane-Welker and most recently at Birkey’s Farm Store.  He was a very dedicated worker.  He liked to spend time with family and travel, with Disneyworld and Gatlinburg being his favorite travel destinations.  He was also previously a reserve officer for Montgomery County.


Born Jan. 10, 1967 in Beech Grove, he was the son of James R. May and Marlene McLain May.  He graduated from Tri-West in 1985 and took classes through technical schools to earn credits at John Deere Tech.  He married Lisa J. Lofland on Nov. 13, 2003.  She survives.


Surviving family includes: wife, Lisa; three sons, Brandon (Tyler) May, Michael (Jasmine) Adams, Connor May; two brothers, Robert “Bob” (Julie) May, and James May; sister, Jace Wilson.


He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles May and nephew, Jared.


Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Thursday, Feb. 22nd at Burkhart Funeral Home.  Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, Feb. 23rd at the funeral home, led by Pastor Brock Graham.  After the service, he will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery North.

I have a few memories of Uncle Tom I will always remember. 1, him taking us to the summer pig shows, and we would always get McDonald’s cheeseburgers. It felt mandatory during the fair and those shows for him to get everyone those cheeseburgers, which us kids loved! Then during one shows in Greencastle, there was a tornado warning.
