Not sure what to say?

I remember driving with Tom up to the fire lookout around 1948. I was ten years old. Tom was extremely nice to me and I learned many interesting facts from him. What a fabulous life he lived!

I miss being with you on the top deck of the Linblad cruise of the inblad trip to Alaska watching the NORTHERN LIGHTS!!!

I was unable to attend Tom's memorial, but I think about him often and fondly recall his 90th birthday celebration with so many of his longtime friends and family. Along with everyone else, I was fortunate to have known him -- such a kind and wise and thoughtful man.

In addition to knowing him as a biologist for ODFW, I had the PLEASANT DELIGHT of being on a Linblad cruise on the INSIDE PASSAGE to Alaska and shared evenings on top of the ship watching the NORTHERN LIGHTS and discussing the threats to Oregon fish and wildlife resources..... What a mentor I admire till I pass :))

I am greatly saddened to have learned of the passing of one of our many friends and frequent visitors to what was our family store, B'wana Junction Sporting Goods. Mom took this photo of these three gents - fishing and hunting writer Fred Goetz, Tom, and Dad, Joe Lae, years ago on one of their many story-telling meets at the store, and I wanted to share it with Tom's family and friends where I hope it will bring many smiles from their own fond memories.
I extend my deepest sympathies to...

Fred Goetz, Tom, and Dad - Joe Lae - at B'wana Junction

I was so very lucky to have known him for some 30 years and to have spent a manical night watching the Northern Lights and listening to his melodic stories on the roof of a Linblad ship on Alaska's Inland Passage.

A very special person,

I am lucky to have been a colleague of Tom at the dear old Journal. Happy Trails, old friend.
