Thomas R. McClure (1939-2014) Renowned direct marketing advertising professional and entrepreneur Thomas R. McClure age 75 of Malvern, PA passed away August 15, 2014 following a prolonged illness. Mr. McClure was born in Lodi, OH and grew up was educated in Cleveland, where he attended John Marshall High School. He was a 1964 graduate of Ohio University and received a BA degree in Business. After several copywriting stints at both Philadelphia advertising agencies and marketing companies, Mr. McClure ventured out on his own, founding The McClure Group in 1983. Operating initially out of his bedroom in Jeffersonville, PA, the company went onto become one of America's top twenty-five direct marketing advertising agencies based on revenue. Headquartered in Valley Forge, PA, The McClure Group specialized in financial services/insurance direct marketing and served a broad spectrum of clients throughout the United States, including Independence Blue Cross, Highmark, Advanta, Merck-Medco, MCI and First USA. The company employed and nurtured more than 125+ advertising/marketing professionals. Under Mr. McClure's creative vision and supervision, the agency won prestigious awards in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. for its print, direct mail and broadcast advertising. In 1993 Mr. McClure was honored by The Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association as Direct Marketer of the Year. He was a former member of The Direct Marketing Association of America (DMA), as wells The Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association (PDMA). He was also a current member of The Union League of Philadelphia, the South Carolina Yacht Club and served in the US Army 1960-1962. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Cipriano McClure, owner of Tutto Sorrisi Catering LLC, Malvern, PA, and sons Christopher, wife Kim Hart, Matthew, wife Kelly, and grandchildren Timothy and Liam and daughters Jacqueline and Amanda. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Thurs. Evening 6-9 P.M. at the D'ANJOLELL MEMORIAL HOME OF MALVERN/FRAZER, 392 Lancaster Ave. Frazer, PA 19355 (1/4 mile east of route 352). A Funeral Mass will be held Fri. 11 A.M. at St. Patrick Church, 104 Channing Ave. Malvern, PA 19355. Interment Philadelphia Memorial Park.
