Not sure what to say?

THIS MAN WAS LIKE A FATHER TO ME. HE SHARED HIS KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM WITH ME ENOUGH FOR ME TO KNOW THAT HE WAS A GOD-SENT. MCPHATTER WAS TRULY A GREAT MAN.

It's a blessing to see how Mr.Thomas McPhatter changed the course of history. I hope and pray that his family will continue to carry on his dream and let the younger generations know that they can succeed no matter what. I am glad to know Joseph McPhatter Sr. and Joseph McMcPhatter Jr. May God continue to bless.

I consider it a privilege to know Joseph mcphatter Sr. And Joseph mcphatter Jr. I will continue to pray for you and your family

Rev. McPhatter was one of the the first black people I got to know growing up in largely segregated Kansas City Missouri. I really admired him. He was one of the counselors at a Presbyterian church camp in the summer of 1957. I'll never forget him.

I never got to meet Capt. McPhatter, however I interviewed him by telephone several times for a book I was working on. I was saddened to learn of his passing and feel even more sad because I never got to meet him.

I am a baby boomer who thanks to the courage of men like Capt. McPhatter, there were opportunities for my generation and future generations. Though he is in the arms of the Heavenly Father, his shoulders still hold us up. We owe him a...

I cannot say where it is that CaptainMcphatter lays today in as much as those who hold to know that he sits in a heaven living for eternity, but what I do know of this man is that he is a hero. I have often thought of him from time to time from our first encounter, this giant of a man who never gave up, gave in, or refused a challenge. I knew this was a man of goodness, kindness, and strength when I met him in 1995 at MCRD San Diego. As a young Marine then serving on the Commanding General’s...

I am writing this to share my memories of Brother "Mack", as a young black man coming of age in San Diego, CA during the 1970's and 1980's. MACK was a learned father figure from which I was able to view things around me in context of being a black man in America. Through Mack, I went to an HBCU, Howard University; pledged a fraternity, Omega Psi Phi; and became a productive member of society. I will always keep Thomas "Mack" McPhatter close to my heart. I will miss him terribly.

I never had the chance to meet Thomas, but I was able to talk to him on the phone - he had me send him a wedding invitation even though he could not attend. He just wanted to be a part of our special day in spirit. He was was truly a great man - I am glad my sister and her family could experience his great history in person last year when they were in California. Heaven must be a real special place with the great marine walking around.
