Thomas Furman 'Pete' McPherson, Jr. 70, of 3654 Curdsville-Delaware Road, Owensboro, KY, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011 in a single tractor-trailer accident on I-57 in Effingham, IL. Pete was born on May 24, 1941, in Hancock County to the late Furman McPherson and Hallie McPherson Muenier. He was owner/operator of an over-the-road trucking operation. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and of the Catholic faith. Pete loved NASCAR, making wind chimes, auto mechanics and his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Jim and Jackie McPherson and sisters, Joan Smith Montgomery, Mary Helen Clark and Nina McClain. He is survived by his wife Carla Winchell McPherson, his children, Jackie (Mike) McCarthy, Tom McPherson and Jessica (Jeremy) Green all of Owensboro. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Jesse, Hallie and Preston McCarthy and Mason Green, 2 brothers, Tony (Marianne) McPherson of Ensor, KY, and Bobby (Sharon) McPherson of Owensboro. 3 sisters, Monie (Bob) Davis and Nancy Ray both of Owensboro and Mary Rose Domalewski of Elizabeth, KY and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00am on Friday, September 16, 2011 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with Father Mark Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. In honor of Pete, the family requests for friends and family to wear casual clothing. Visitation will be at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home from 2:00 to 8:00pm Thursday and from 9:00 to 10:00am. Friday at the funeral home. Prayers will be at 6:00pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Mary Magdalene Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
