Pat my prayers to you as a second anniversary is coming. Love and hugs to you and prayers

I am going through some life changes, as we all do. This change was unexpected. I like to think that Tom would encourage me and be supportive. As I write this, I imagine him reassuring me with a smile. I am thinking of you Tom.

I first met Tom in 1970, following a tour of duty in Vietnam, when I rotated off of active duty and joined the Naval Reserve in Tomkinsville. Growing up in Pleasant Plains, I had known who Tom's family was, particularly his younger brother Monk who was in my older brother's class at Tottenville H.S.

Tom was one of the funniest people I ever knew. Sharp as a tack, and an outstanding officer. Had a memorable time with him on a reserve cruise we did on a destroyer in February 1971...

Tom was, and still is, to me an inspiration. I knew him for many years as a patient. Humble, humorous, wise, impossible not to like him from the first moment I met him. Everybody liked him. Ultimately, I got to know his wife as well. They clearly were full of love for one another and cared for each other deeply. Not to my surprise, she is full of warmth, kindness and empathy.
