My mentor and our friend will be missed. He was smart as a whip on many topics and was passionate about the newspapers he worked at, the people there, the First Amendment, and, especially, his family. He is rooting on his Cincinnati Reds already for next season, no doubt.

I'm so sorry to hear of Tom's passing and send my deepest regrets to his family.....I spent my first 13 years in journalism working with him at the Lima News, and always counted him as one of my favorite people. He had such integrity, was amazingly grounded, bright, and always kind. And though he was a great newsman, I learned the most from him by the example he set. I will miss him.

To the Mullen Family: I am very sorry for your loss. Tom was the best boss I ever had, I have missed him the past 12 years. He was a mix of so many wonderful traits that combined to make him a rare gem in both his professional and personal life. Blessings to your family and Godspeed Tom.

We remember Tom with great fondness, from the time we worked at The News. He was a mentor to Carole and got her started on a career in newspaper management. He was a source of inspiration and an excellent guide for young journalists and we will always be grateful for his wisdom.
