Not sure what to say?

I recently learned of Tom's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. I met Tom in the early to mid-1990s when he was operating an office cleaning business in the evenings after school. His company cleaned my office building and we struck up a friendship. We spoke often about careers, jobs and teaching. Tom always took the time to say hello and ask how I was doing. He also offered helpful, down-to-earth career advice when I asked for his thoughts. He was a kind,...

I found out today, through the mention in the West Catholic Emissary, that Mr. Nedelka passed away in November. I had four wonderful years at West Catholic and Mr. Nedelka was a big part of my life. I am proud to have had him as a teacher and adviser. My best to his family.

I just received the Carroll alumni newsletter and was shocked and saddened to read about Mr. Nedelka's passing. I wanted to write this for Andrew, Mr. Nedelka's son, so that he would know how his father touched the lives of his students in ways that are still felt today.

I was fortunate enough to have had Mr. Nedelka for either 10th or 11th grade English. He introduced me to The Scarlet Letter and other works of American literature and inspired me to become a high school English...

I graduated from Carroll in 1986 and although I never had Mr. Nedelka as a teacher he was intrumental in shaping my future. He was the Athletic Director at the time for the girl's school and he basically got me an athletic scholarship to college for volleyball. He helped me every step of the way and I will never forget all that he did. I knew back then that Mr. Nedelka was a caring and kind person. But now that I am older and a parent myself, I really appreciate the full impact he had on...

Mr. Nedelka was my teacher for English back in 1998. He was fabulous and really made learning fun. I am a teacher now and I strive to be like him in the unique way he made learning real and relevant to his students. I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Nedelka family. I still remember things he said to us in class at Carroll, and that was over 25 years ago. He truly had an impact and cared about his students.

I knew Tom for many years both at West Catholic and while working with him doing signs for Equity Enterprise. He used to joke that he paid me just to listen to him tell his stories. I was shocked and saddened to hear that he passed away. I called two months ago to say hello but left a message. I wish I could have spoken to him.
Andrew your father spoke about you often and it was always with a tremendous amount of love.
I am sorry that I did not hear sooner. It would have liked...

I found out too late and am truly shocked and sad for this loss. He was a wonderful friend and inspiration to me-always positive and striving to do good and be happy and make those around him the better for it.

He inspired me with his wonderful mix of physical and intellectual fitness. I thank him for that and for so much more. I wish I could have told him.

Andrew, your father was the best.

Tom Nedelka was a wonderful man who would repeatedly bring out the best in his students - he expected them to do well, and they did. He was a terrific co-worker and friend. The Archbishop Carroll community is certainly diminished by the loss of Tom Nedelka. We will not forget him.
