Father Tom was not only my favorite priest, the man I wanted to marry me someday, but he was my friend. We first met when I alter-served at St. Vincent's and we've been friends ever since. His masses and homilies were the BEST! You always walked away with a clear message and a smile on your face. I will always remember our 'talks' when I would go visit him, and the one round of golf I played with him, on the best course in Omaha. Every shot impressed me...he was so good at golf! I would...

My family and I are saddened to hear of the passing of Father O'Brien. Although we moved from Omaha in 1984, we have never forgotten this wonderful priest.
When our son was born in 1985 we had several names chosen, but with great respect for Father, we named our son Thomas. (I'm not surprised to see others so named as well.)
Thank God for sending us one of His best, Father Thomas O'Brien.

When I returned to the Catholic faith after 30 years, Fr. O'Brien was one of those who influenced my decision. He was to me the epitome of a humble and God-loving person. He heard my confession after all those years and I have since become a very devote catholic with strong beliefs. I owe much of that to Fr. O'Brien. God bless him.

I was saddened to hear of Fr. O'Brien's passing. He married me and my husband Mark 25 years ago at St. Pius X. We enjoyed seeing him when we came back to Omaha to visit family. He always remembered us, and I'll always remember his words "Come, Holy Spirit" that he spoke before every homily.

I remember him back from my Grade School Days at St. Pius X/St. Leo School. I'll miss you. Take care.

I was a fourth grader when St. Pius the Tenth Parish School opened and Father O'Brien was an assistant priest. I remember so fondly his loving spirit. He spent time every day with us at recess. I felt he was like Jesus himself in his dignified cassock and Roman collar. In eighth grade Religion classes, he would sit on the desk in his gentle manner and engage us in theological discussions about our Catholic Faith. Many years later, I was visiting Omaha and attended Mass at St. Vincent de...

I grew up under Father O'Brien's guidence. I was one of the first students at Pius X, when it opened in the late 50's early 60's. Father Kempker, Father O'Brien and Mrs. Edwards were the main stays, in my world. Many times Father O'Brien pointed a lot of us back in the right direction, me for sure. He didn't have to do that, but that was the way he was. Always trying to help us achieve the things that are really important in life. There probably hasn't been any other person, with the...

My family has know Fr Tom since the first time he was at St Pius X. I am named after him and my mother told me of the story that after us triplets were born-after single and twin births, Fr O'Brien told her after 3 comes 4 - my mother said if she had 4 Fr Tom would get 2 of them. He was always so cheerful and loved kids, he has baptised my 2 daughters and he will be missed. God bless you and your family Fr Tom.
