Tom was the best at what he did. Great to work with and a great guy

To Tom's Family:

My wife Nancy and I extend our deepest condolences to you. I worked with Tom for almost twenty-five years. He was a tireless public servant who taught me more about the day to day mechanics of government than anyone else could. Many hours were spent in his office on the third floor of the Justice Complex dealing with the work of the OAG. Tom had unlimited intellectual energy and curiosity. He was always ready to listen to every angle of a problem and eager to find the...

Tom was a champion to me and for me. He recognized a spark in me, gave me an opportunity, nurtured me with guidance and wisdom, then he gave me the greatest gift that a boss can give -- his confidence and the independence to take on a new task in a new field and do it fearlessly. Tom was a brilliant leader in State government - a tactician who inspired and never lost the human touch. I deeply mourn Tom's loss. I mourn for the loss to the people of New Jersey and the citizens of the...

Dear Jane and family, I had the great privilege and honor of working for Tom as his Deputy Director at DOJ. During that tenure, and my 27 years in law enforcement, Tom was one of the finest people I've had the fortune of working for. Tom was a great leader and one of the most gentle and kind souls I've ever known. He will always be an inspiration to me and many others whose lives he deeply touched. God Bless the O'Reilly family and may Tom Rest In Peace.

My husband Paul and I want to extend or sincerest condolences to Jane and the entire OReilly clan on Toms passing. We both knew him professionally and socially. He was a man of many accomplishments and was widely respected and admired in all of his many endeavors; a friend to all and a mentor to many. He had the ability to always let the light shine through him and not just on him and adhered to one of Wil Rogers favorite sayings: Its amazing what can be accomplished if you dont care who gets...
