Not sure what to say?

Tom and I worked together for five years at MacKay & Somps. I started out as a designer-draftsman, but Tom, a senior professional, encouraged me to aim higher and become a Registered Civil Engineer. We had some challenging but meaningful adventures with our projects and enjoyed many cultural experiences. He was a thoughtful, humble, and good-humored person, and was a great friend to me and my family. We left MacKay & Somps at the same time to pursue other opportunities and advance our...

Dear Carol, Akemi and Mayumi,

My condolences, thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I am saddened by Tom's early passing.

While I worked as a Civil Engineer with Santa Clara County, I dealt with Tom on many projects and issues when he worked at HMH and MH Engineers. Tom was always professional, thoughtful, and gently persuasive on behalf of this employer.

I also knew Tom worked for Santa Clara County for many years and that he was an avid skier,...

Carol, Akemi and Mayumi, we are very sorry for your loss and we know we will miss him too.

Dear Carol, Mayumi and Akemi, Although I have only become acquainted with your family recently, I enjoyed Tom's sense of humor and his absolute lack of pretense. I know that your family meant a great deal to my son George. Through Mayumi I learned of Tom's dedication to his church, his community and his appreciation of his culture.

I share in your grief at his untimely passing. I'm sorry that I won't get to know him better. I hope that you are comforted by many happy memories...

Carol,
Our hearts and prayers go to you and your family. We are deeply saddened to hear of Tom's passing.
We will, however, always remember Tom as the kind, patient, smiling, yet tough Sensei and teacher. We knew Tom for only a few years but he made an impression that we will always cherish.

Dear Carol, Akemi and Mayumi,

We're heart broken at Tom's untimely passing. Our heartfelt condolences go to the entire Okamoto family.
Tom was my mentor at MH Engineering. We became good friends while Tom and I worked together for 18 years.
I cherished talking civil engineering, sports, politics and Buddhism with him. We have yet to fill
Tom's shoes here at MH Engineering. Our hearts go out to you during this difficult time.
I had hoped to hang out with him some more....

Dear Carol, Akemi and Mayumi,
My deepest sympathy on the passing of Tom. I will always remember and cherish his friendship and ready smile and wisdom. I am sorry to say that I will not be able to attend the services but will be there in spirit. Tom will be remembered in our hearts and memory as he will be greatly missed.
Please take care.
In Gassho,
Lillian
