We remained friends and colleagues over the years, and imagine my joy when he joined the board of the Saint Luke's Foundation. He was smart, strategic, committed to the mission, and fun, and when he became board chair, we worked closely to ensure that we were making investments in the community that would yield great results. Tom and I served on a couple of Boards together. He was running the Children's Hospital when I was at Saint Luke's. I could always count on Tom for his wisdom and his sense of humor. He had a quiet internal peace that helped him lead in a way that gave others a feeling that we were headed in the right direction. You could always count on Tom being a man of his word.
