I graduated from SPA/Summit in 1972, so I was a student during "Mr. Read's" first five years. Please accept condolences for your loss of Mr. Read on the winter solstice. I knew him in three of his roles--as our Headmaster managing the merger of SPA/SS, as my math teacher there, too. And, years later when I was on the board of a school in Illinois that was seeking ISACS accreditation. He walked in with his signature bow-tie, glasses and New England accent. I snapped to attention! He made a difference with his work.

I am so very sorry to learn about Tom's passing. I remember meeting Tom, Joan, and their family at our Read reunion at Harvard in 2003, and since then he and I have kept in touch annually by exchanging family news in Christmas letters. I have lost a very special family member. My deep sympathies to Joan and his family, and to his sisters Helen, Nancy, and Jiggs.
