Thomas Reed Jr., born April 10, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on December 5, 2024, at the Arizona State Veterans Home. A dedicated Air Force veteran, Thomas served for 20 years, including stints in Puerto Rico, Germany, Japan, and California. He married his high school sweetheart, Laura Emma Warren, in 1964, and they shared 58 wonderful years together until her passing.
Thomas was a loving father to Joyce and Thom, father-in-law to Demetrius and Lisa, and a proud grandfather to Noah, Sarah, Jessica, Faith, and Emma. Known for his warmth, resilience, and faith, he made everyone feel valued and welcome. After retiring from the Air Force, Thomas moved with his family to Normal where he worked at GTE (now Verizon) and Mitsubishi, and was active in his church and community.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and siblings Lavon, Elbert, Gwendolyn, and Paula. A celebration of his life will be held on January 10, 2025, at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, IL, with a viewing at 9:00 a.m. and services at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Thomas's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Tom and I worked together in the GTE Security Dept. and he was one of the few bright spots in the department. Every morning he'd walk in with a happy Ohayo gozaimasu - a perfect start to the day.

Laura and Tom were great neighbors (several streets apart but still great) back when our boys were growing up together in Greenbriar. Tommy was one of our favorites at our house and watching them play baseball and grow up was a great memory. Sincere regrets to your families. Tommy,, love to hear from you. I worked at GTE downtown years ago. Mr. Reed was always so nice. I think he worked with the trap and trace dept. My prayers are with his family.

So very sorry to hear about Tom´s passing. Tom and I worked on several investigations together while he was at GTE/Verizon and Mitsubishi. He was a good friend and mentor.
