Thomas Riner Obituary
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth McGann Riner, and his five children, daughter, Pam Jarman (John), son, Frank Riner (Ceryna), daughter, Angie Luther (Jon), daughter, Janet Berry (Mike), and son, Craig Riner (Margie). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Anthony Jarman (Marianna), Brooke Cabell (Chris), Kaitlyn Sutphin, Hunter Jarman, Breanna Viar (Willie), Braelyn Riner, Brent Riner, Jessee Clements, Mandy Berry, Cody Berry, Olivia Bryan (Ronnie), Holly Riner, Rachel Riner, Heather Riner; five great-grandchildren, Levi Viar, Koda Viar, Luna Cabell, Leo Cabell, and Theo Sutphin; his brother, Albert Riner (Susan), multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many friends. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Christie Bray for her excellent care in tending to T.W.'s needs during his extended illness.
T.W. was a remarkable and humble man whose life touched so many and who will leave a legacy of faith for others to follow. He was devoted to his family and his church and taught the Sr. Saints Sunday School Class for many years at Temple Baptist Church, where he was a charter member. He will be remembered for his amazing craftsmanship through his cabinets seen in many homes around central Virginia. He enjoyed hunting, attending car shows, restoring old cars (especially his '37 Chevy), and watching NASCAR races and old westerns. He was a resilient and trustworthy man with great character, faith, strength, and perseverance. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at Temple Baptist Church in Madison Heights on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10 a.m officiated by Frank Riner and the Rev. Bobby Lee. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Contributions in memory of T.W. may be made to Temple Baptist Church Missions, P.O. Box 970, Madison Heights, VA 24572. T.W. was a special friend and special Sunday School Teacher to us Senior Saints at Temple Baptist Church in Madison Heights VA. A very special friend to John who passed on July 3rd 2022. He fondly used John's CB Handle "Bulldog" and gave him a gift of a large bookcase he crafted from his wood talents. I pray for Betty, who used her special sewing talents to bless many and her sweet, kindness, your special families that I am praying for God's comfort and for His strength to fill the void, as all miss T.W. T.W. was our neighbor when my parents lived on Wright Shop Road (Hitchman's). I was a teenager. Years later he gave my son his first haircut at his barber shop on Wright Shop Road. He was a very nice man and will be missed. Prayers for the family.

TW and I and my husband jerry went way back. We were just young married. He was a sweet man.He fought a battle with his health but is free of pain.Bless his family members for yes he will be missed.

T.W and I go way back to the Grace Baptist days. I would get a haircut, hang out at his shop and have a blast. I also remember hanging out at his work shop, attending Saturday night prayer meeting and later at Temple serving with him on a bus route. T.W was the salt of the earth. It has been over 50 years, but I always will remember him. Well done faithful servant.
