Read MoreI was honored to be a summer student for Tom in the summer of 1976 at Argonne before I started graduate school in high energy physics. He was a wonderful advisor, and a great human being. All these years later, I fondly remember working with him, and the party at his house that summer. He is truly an inspiration to anyone aspiring to a life in science, and great soul.

Tom was a wonderful man. He "adopted" me when I first got married and moved to Columbus, was a grandfather to my oldest two boys, and was a great mentor. He scolded me when I did not get the grades I was capable of and taught me to shoot for the stars. I often think of him and Carmen. He is missed.

Tom's passing is so sad; I just learned of it. I remember him most fondly and with the utmost respect. He was a terrific experimenter and a great colleague, who brought intelligence, knowledge, and humor to life and science.
