Not sure what to say?

Sorry to hear this news. I remember Tom Shea as a wonderful economics professor, and I can still picture him and the late Ken Childs shooting pool at Springfield College, sharing endless jokes during their downtime. Beyond being an excellent teacher, Tom was always warm, friendly, and welcoming - qualities every student hopes to find in a professor. It´s sad to know he has passed on. Wishing him peace and sending prayers. May God bless.

I just discovered the passing of my friend and professor, the greatest teacher I ever had. Like my classmates and friends Jim and Betsy Fletcher and Dave Siano we were able to see a side to the teacher at the front of the class that made him special. He came to Springfield the same year we members of the Class of !974 did. He played on my intramural softball team. We played football on Fridays with his "nickle and dime" passing game. I corrected papers and babysat Mathew. Most importantly I...

I will never forget Tom shooting balls of paper across the room after the Bruins won the Stanley Cup in 1972. He loved hockey.

Tom, I will never forget your jokes and stories. Be well my old friend. dietrich

I am so saddened by Tom´s passing. We were the best of friends when we were in St. Patrick´s elementary school. We were chessplaying rivals. We lost touch until I ran into Tom at Northeastern, he a grad student, I an undergrad. Then we lost touch again. Elaine I´m so sorry.

Tom was my favorite professor at Springfield College! He was a mentor and friend! I have many happy memories or dinners at his home and help he gave me when I broke my back and could not lift my textbook.

Tom Shea changed my life. I was an ok student doing what needed to be done to graduate. I took his Principles of Economics and a bright light went off and forever changed this humble undergraduate! I found myself debating the Phillips Curve at parties and using Prof Shea's humor to make my case. I still have his famous Economics workbook and I have thrown away all my other textbooks. He was a first rate teacher and he made a difference in my life and he will never be forgotten.

I only met with Thomas twice in Ireland ,once as a child and again in his mid thirties. On each occasion I got that sense of trivia and fun but he was a serious player in the academic world and life in general, well respected by his peers and former pupils as evidenced by the condolences of those who knew him well. His father Jeremiah ,while he embraced American way of life and spoke eloquently of America "where the emigrant outcast is sheltered in peace, neath the wings of the eagle aloft in...

...so sorry to hear of Tom´s passing Elaine ...many Lynn memories with Jerry and Katherine of Tom as my older cousin who always was a good sport...Jim Powers
