Tom Shipley was not only my dissertation chair, but a kind, insightful, and supportive mentor whose guidance was invaluable and will always be appreciated. He had a terrific, wry sense of humor and he was truly like a loving grandfather to me. I was deeply saddened to learn of his death and know that he will be greatly missed by all.
