My 55 year relationship with Tommy started in our sophomore year as members of the Clemson Color Guard . We went different ways on active duty and then met again as Guardsmen in the Union Battalion. We stayed in contact during this period doing IOAC correspondence courses. In 1991 Tommy became Commander of the 4th Bn and I had the pleasure of serving as his XO during our deployment to Turkey.
