Not sure what to say?

I will always treasure Tom and Shelley and their children, Ian and Jessica. I had the great honor to be their babysitter when I attended high school in Winsted, CT. Tom and Shelley were so important to me as a teen. Their children, Ian and Jessica were so smart and fun. They were like family to me. I learned so much taking care of them and will always treasure the memories. I hope to connect with them soon!

May Tom's poetic flame keep on shining on his family, friends, and students everywhere.

Rarely a day does by that I don't think of Tom, an extraordinary mentor, an engaging conversationalist, and the best professor I ever had. Plus a loving husband to Shelly and father to his. kids.

No one ignited my passion for literature more than Tom. In the classroom, he was simply electric. I am so glad I got to see him and his beloved Shelly a few years ago (I am a '71 graduate). I will never forget this total "original' and his laughing eyes.

I am so sorry to have just learned about the loss of Tom. He was absolutely the best teacher I ever had at University of Hartford. Always passionate, kind and thoughtful. And such an infectious smile. I remember his dedication to swimming at the outdoor pool at the University. And how much he loved and appreciated music, the arts...and especially his family.

When I was a new student to MHS in my junior year, Tom was one of the first classmates to reach out and befriend me. I have been forever grateful for that kindness. In later years, whenever we met, he was always his steady, kind, and GOOD self. He had the gift of friendship.

What a guy! Rest in peace, dear Smitty, til we all meet again under the street light to play cards like we did when we were kids. And thank you for a million good memories from Hollister days on. Kit

Dear Shelly and family. We all share your loss.Tom was one of the few true gentlemen I have Known. Please accept our condolence.
