Thomas B. Summerell

Obituary

SUMMERELL, Thomas B., 68, passed away on June 22, 2009 after a courageous fight with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Louise; son, Stephen; sister, Sharon Perry of Hampton; as well as extended family. The majority of his career was spent at Robertshaw Controls Company as manager of the South East Asia Division, which afforded him many opportunities to travel the world. Tom spent his later professional years in the automotive industry as a sales consultant for several of the dealerships on Midlothian Turnpike, where he made many friends. His prevailing passion was his family and he will be forever remembered as a wonderful father, great husband and a faithful friend. The family will be receiving friends at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, on Thursday, June 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to sincerely thank all of their friends and the great doctors and nurses at CJW Medical Center for their support. Please send donations to Thomas Johns Cancer Center on the CJW Campus.

Tom was a "true salesman." I knew Tom for 14+ years while at Robertshaw Controls Company. He truly understood various cultures in the world. He could relate, communicate, and talk to anyone. He was honest, hard working, and a dedicated employee. He will be solely missed. My deepest sympathy to all his family.
