Tom and I were both part of the class entering the Society in August 1964 at Milford, Ohio. Tom was unfailingly kind, generous, and encouraging to me. His wry sense of humor—you usually knew it was coming when he got a certain twinkle in his eye—was a delight. Visited him in the Jesuit seminary and admired their family like atmosphere. He was in good hands; he to usedhis huge intellect well in the area of sacred scripture ,also I loved his wry sense of humor. What a gentle “Reverend Father!

People at the Loyola Madonna della Strada chapel Sunday morning assembly would noticeably perk up when they saw Tom would be our celebrant. The homily would probe, inform, and affirm. Faith would meet understanding and both would be the better for it.
And he wouldn't share his notes, because at best they were scribbles.
