Grandpa'
I love you very much and will miss you greatly. I do however thank you for your house. I promise to take care of it and always remember you in it. Being able to keep so many great memories of you and grandma in your home, makes it all that much more valuable to me. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Lori and I will always love you.

I went to Stonegate from K-6. Mr. Vastine was always popular in all grades, it was always a joy to see him. I remember in Kindergarden he always would sharpen our pencils, and read us books, and play all sorts of games with us. And every once in a while, he would stop by every room and say Hi, and when we were having a bad day, he brightened it. When I heard he passed away, the first thought that came to mind was how long he lived. He lived an incredibly amazing life to the fullest, and...

"I didn't go to kindergarten at Stonegate, I started going in 1st grade, but I always loved that man. One day he came into our 6th grade classroom, and all the students turned back into kindergartners, smiling and waving to him and calling his name."

It has been a long time since my days as a student at Stonegate Elementary, but I will always remember Mr. Vastine. Anyone who went to Stonegate either knew Mr. Vastine or knew of him. He was always there! As someone else mentioned, I do remember when we celebrated one of his birthdays(I guess it was his 80th), and a cake was brought out and all the kids were there like during an assembly. Stonegate was a better place because of Mr. Vastine, and while I don't remember knowing him that well,...

WOW!!! What an amazing man!!! I only knew Mr. Vastine for such a short while and I am a changed person. I can proudly say that he was my friend. I LOVED that man!! He was more of a "Gramdpa" to my daughters than their biological ones. But I think that is how GOD works. I will always remember Mr. Vastine and "An ANGEL from HEAVEN in human skin!"
A million thanks to the family for "sharing" him during their last moments...it truly touched me to my soul!!!

10,000...

I would like to include my condolences to the whole family. Mr. Vastine was certainly an unforgettable man. I had the priviledge of teaching his grandson, John, in 4th grade. I also met Gina as a student there at Bell Manor. Dottie also taught a computer class I took. What a wonderful family!
Mr. Vastine came to visit John and have lunch with him and ended up helping in my classroom. I believe he also was a crossing guard near Bell Manor, helping children across Central Dr. It...

We will always remember Tom for his smile and warm handshakes and hugs at the church. He was a wonderful example of what it means to live and be a Christian man, husband and friend.

We will all miss him so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Grandpa, you are truly going to be missed in kindergarten! You blessed us each morning with your wonderful hugs and smiles! I'm so thankful to have known you. I will never forget attending the HEB 50th anniversary Gala with such a handsome man and all the many times we ate and shared birthdays with you at Luby's! May you rest in peace, Grandpa. Love, Jamie Ulmer (Stonegate Kindergarten teacher)

Tom was an inspiration to me from the very first time I met him. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. He VISITED people, at their homes, in the hospital, in their schools. You felt loved in his presence. His generosity has inspired me to be a better person. I will miss him. My prayer is that fond memories flood out any sadness the family feels. The world is a better place because of Tom Vastine.
