Thomas Walden Obituary

Montville - Thomas A. Walden, 49, of Uncasville, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, in Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

Tom was born on Nov. 23, 1963, in New London, the son of the late William and Margaret (Korineck) Walden. He married Brenda Brackett on July 7, 1990 in East Lyme. He was employed for 23 years at the DOT for the State of Connecticut.

Tom grew up in East Haddam. He attended Nathan Hale-Ray High School and Essex Satellite school. He graduated in 1983. Tom was so much fun to be around. He had a passion for telling jokes and making people laugh, even to people he barely knew. Tom had a big heart and it showed to all that knew him. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and motorcycles, watching classic TV shows such as Star Trek, Lost in Space and Deputy Dawg cartoons. Since his illness, Tom took up playing guitar. He bought a Gene Simmons Battle Axe and it was his pride and joy. Tom and family loved decorating their house for the holidays. Not a Halloween or Christmas went by without his house being decorated for the occasion. Tom's joy was cooking Christmas breakfast every year. It became his tradition.

Mr. Walden is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; his son, Frank T. Walden of Uncasville; daughter, Cindy L. Walden of Uncasville; his sisters, Teresa Terrel and husband, Pete, of Griswold and Valerie Kiernan and her husband, Mike, of Maine; his brother, William Walden Jr. and his wife, June, of East Lyme; his grandson, Jackson Walden; and his beloved dog, Rascal. Tom had several nieces and nephews that he cherished as much as he did his own children.

He will be sadly missed by all.

A Service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Lane, Old Lyme. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 6 to 8 p.m.

Tommy always had a way of cheering people up. I ran into him a few times during the course of his illness and he always had a real positive outlook. He never complained about his circumstances and always would inquire about how others were doing. He loved his family and took such pride in his children. I am sorry for your loss Brenda, Frankie and Cindy.

Wow,what do you say to a little brother that steals your best cat eye marbles and hides them out in the sand box, so he can fill his tonka trucks full of diamonds. What do you say to a little brother who eats the last cookie and eats it with his mouth opened. What do you say to a little brother who gets exactly what he wanted for Christmas and cried about it. What do you say to a little brother, who gives you a chocolate pie facial. All these things and more I will remember, you were a great little brother, and I love you so much. Even when times were sad, you always knew how to make me laugh. You loved Marianne like she was yours, and for all this I will always be grateful for. Give Mom and Dad a hug for me, Nana and Gomp, Grandma and Grandpa, and don't forget to give Charlie and Rosie a big hug from me too.. Love you Little Brother.. Your big Sister Val

Uncle Tom, I miss you more than words can express. I will cherish last Sunday forever. You were so silly, goofy, weird, and a great Uncle. I'm going to miss your crude humor, and holidays with you even more now. I love you so much. I know you are in a happier place with family and friends and unlimited possibilities. I can't wait to tell my baby stories of their Great Uncle Tommy. I miss and love you.
