Not sure what to say?

I organized North Portland and Albina for Tom's 1972 City Council campaign against Frank Ivancie. In his candor, Tom was an unconventional candidate. Those of us in the campaign took that loss hard. I was grateful for his generosity. In the politics that I've observed over the rest of my journalistic life, I've not met another candidate like Tom.

My deepest sympathy for the loss of an admired fellow MAC member. Rest in Peace Tom, but only after a run over fresh powder followed by a shot of whiskey. Cheers to a great life.

I worked with Tom on the Jackson Scholars program at ODOT and had several river trips with him. He was an inspiring man, and a couple of his handwritten notes to me are among my most treasured possessions. My condolences to all the family. Please know he had such a positive impact on many of us and the state of Oregon.

Having been out of the country, I did not hear of Tom´s passing until just recently. I am deeply saddened to hear that this creative, approachable, and ever helpful man has departed. It was my good fortune to have worked for and with him and observe the positive outcomes he negotiated. RIP Tom.

Our family has know several members of the Walsh family, Tom, Bob and Ben and their wives. They are wonderful people we feel blessed to know. Our thoughts are with you.

I worked for Tom at TriMet. We shared a sense of humor and fun with numbers. I was a worker bee he was General Manager. Returning to work after my father died I found a thoughtful, note from Tom on my desk.... After we both left TriMet I contacted Tom asking for advice regarding development. I hoped for a brief phone call; he took me to a two hour lunch, giving me great advice, references, and an open door to contact him anytime. With all of his achievements, he treated me like a...

I have known Tom since the 1960s, when my late husband and I were teaching in Leysin, Switzerland, and we met him there. He shared our love of exploring, hiking, climbing, and skiing. We stayed in touch since that time. He helped me make a decision about the house in Portland in which I currently live, and he also helped my son´s family with their decision to buy property in Hood River. He was a thoughtful, considerate, and kind friend to my entire family for over half a century. I was...

A great loss to our community, his family and friends. Knew Tom from way back in Lincoln years and beyond. He was indeed a very special fellow. My sympathy to all who cared and for those he knew and loved.

I remember Tom when he was on the Board of Forestry and was Oregon´s delegate on the Endangered Species Committee (also known as the God Squad). He was always so thoughtful, incisive, and keenly perceptive. I was honored to work with him. My deepest condolences to his family.
