Thomas A. Weishaar

Thomas A. Weishaar 75, of DeKalb passed away Monday, June 16, 2025, at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. He was born February 19, 1950, in DeKalb, IL and was the son of Cyril and Florence (Montavon) Weishaar.

Tom graduated from DeKalb High School in 1968, beginning a lifelong journey deeply rooted in his community and the land he loved. On June 19, 1971, he married the love of his life, Dianne L. Craigmile, at St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb.

Tom found joy in the simple but meaningful things like snowplowing after a heavy storm, tending to his garden, and most of all, farming. The rhythm of the seasons and the promise held in every growing crop were his greatest passions. He poured his heart into the land, taking pride not just in the work but in the life it nurtured. Whether working his own fields or lending a hand to fellow farmers, Tom was always in motion, driven by a quiet strength and a deep sense of purpose.

A member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tom lived his faith through hard work, generosity, and the love he showed to his family and community.

Survivors include; wife Dianne of DeKalb, daughter; Cari Weishaar of DeKalb, Brothers; Gary (Sue) Weishaar of Nokomis, FL, Joe (Andi) Weishaar of Decatur, IL. Sisters; Imelda (Don) York of North Aurora, IL, Janice (Gene) Reed of Elgin, IL and Marianne (Lonnie) Buehler of DeKalb, IL. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew Andrew York.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:30am at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb with burial immediately following the service at Afton Cemetery in DeKalb. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 60115 815-758-3841.

Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences to Tom's family during this difficult time. It was an absolute pleasure getting to know Tom. He'll be fondly remembered as such a fantastic person, always with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes, especially after talking to his wife or daughter. He will be missed!

Tom’s obituary is the most beautiful one I ever read! I am not surprised as I was in school with him every day at Saint Mary’s School. He was such a good sweet little boy! A mean word never came out of his mouth and he never beat anyone up. He was never corrected in class. He supported every one and made us all a little better (which was quite a task). As my sister Susan said his rosy cheeks from being out in the fresh farm air, his twinkling eyes and adorable smile are what I remember. I...

What a great man that I had the pleasure of knowing during my time working at Bethany Healthcare. Tom was quite the character and really a charming person! He will definitely be missed! My prayers are with his family.

Mel and family, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your brother, Tom. May fond memories bring grateful moments to all who loved him. Jean Montgomery Bjorn

GREATEST MEMORY OF TOMMY DURING HIS CHILDHOOD WAS HIS WONDERFUL SENSE OF
HUMOR, THE SPARKLE OF
JESUS IN HIS EYES, AND
HIS ROSY CHEEKS DURING
THE COLD WINTERS. HE WAS
MY BROTHERS AGE. WE ALL CAME FROM BIG FAMILIES.
ST. MARY'S WAS THE HUB.
MY HEART IS WITH ALL
Y'ALL. MAY TOMMY REST IN THE PEACE OF THE LORD,
LOVE, OMA SUSAN

My dearest Dianne and Cari and all of my Cousinsmy deepest condolences. I have so much respect for my sweet and big hearted Cousin Tom.
