For almost as much time as he spent alone practicing and studying jazz, Pockets, aka Thomas C. Westropp, Jr., spent nearly an equal amount in the presence of family and friends, because he simply loved people. He could chat up anyone, young or old, anywhere (an authentic neighborhood coffee shop...

Not sure what to say?

Just thought of him the other day out of the blue and decided to see what the internet might say. We went to loretto heights in Denver. I can´t say I was best friends with him,but friends for certain. He was one of the most friendly, open people I´ve ever met, completely unbiased, open hearted. His musical skills were phenomenal. He started a tradition of playing every sunset at a certain spot on campus and it was a real pleasure to hear him and share the moment. He had a good friend who stopped...

Tom was the most kind childhood playmate in our University Heights neighborhood like me could ever have dreamed up. In those very early years before and after our time together as classmates in Gesu Catholic School's very last kindergarten class I will declare for all ages young Tom and I were the closest blood-brother childhood chums God ever created on the face of the earth!!! How I loved him so -- how truly I so greatly loved him -- only the divine mind of Jesus would know!!! I will...

Tom had the most gentle of spirits and was always filled with humor and music in his soul. He was also a loyal friend to The Manning Family. Seems like he always made time to stop by for awhile when he was in town from Colorado or Martha's Vineyard......And when he did, there was ALWAYS music made. "Tall Ships" is still one of my favorite melodies!!! I was also sorry to learn of your other recent losses, especially that of your precious Mother. Lifting ALL of The Westropps up in love,...

Tom and I were in the same home room for two years at St Ignatius, although we knew him as “Chip”. We sat alphabetically, I got to know him pretty well, although, living in opposite sides of town, we didn’t socialize much.

I remember him as a great guy who never had a bad thing to say about anyone. May he Rest In Peace. AMDG

We went to the Fillmore West and saw Alvin Bishop. Crashed at a flat in Haight Ashbury and couldn’t sleep. Stropp got us in the car and we drove to Big Sur to see the sunrise.
Not a bad night for some good ol’ Gesu boys.

It is an honor to acknowledge any of the Westropp children. They and their mother, Mary Ann, are an extraordinary family. God’s blessings to you.

Tom was a very talented, very sensitive friend. I knew him from a very early age. We lived close together in University Heights, Ohio. May he enjoy Jesus and Mother Mary in Heaven today.

So sad to receive the eventual news of Tom's passing. Also sad for me and his friends from Martha's Vineyard to not have been able to enjoy our latter years together or at least by social media. The memories will always be fond.

“We’re Ignatius men forever, as we hail the Blue and Gold.” We all stand with our brother at this difficult time. RIP Thomas!
